The customer is a high-tech service enterprise specializing in electronic OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing). Its product range covers four major categories: consumer electronic products, cloud network products, computer terminal products, components, and other related items. The company operates factories in over 20 countries and regions spanning China, Southeast Asia, the United States, Europe, and more.

Case Overview

Boasting strong brand value, the customer sets extremely high standards for the craftsmanship of OEM products, hence implementing rigorous management over the entire production process. The newly constructed production line is dedicated to aluminum product processing, transforming a single aluminum plate into finished products such as computer cover surfaces. To cut costs and minimize the time spent on system integration, commissioning, and maintenance, the customer required a single device to fulfill the code reading needs throughout the entire production process. Code marking method: Laser-engraved DPM (Direct Part Marking) codes on aluminum; Barcode size: Maximum 1cm×1cm.

Hawkgaze recommended its FS05A series products to the customer.

Key Challenges

 

1.The production process from an aluminum plate to a finished product involves more than 20 processing steps. During processes like CNC machining, sandblasting, and oxidation, the DPM codes on the raw aluminum plates suffer damage, leading to various surface defects on the barcodes, including wear, wrinkles, and light reflection.

2.The finished products come in different colors, and some codes on the finished products have extremely low contrast, posing great difficulties for identification.

3.In addition to the high requirements for algorithms, the project also relies heavily on comprehensive pre-sales and after-sales services.

 

Application of FS05A in the Entire Process of Electronic Manufacturing

Equipped with AI algorithms and a next-generation computational imaging system, the FS05A series delivers powerful decoding capabilities for DPM codes. It is equipped with red light sources , allowing for customized light distribution in the imaging area based on specific scenarios. This versatility enables it to meet various complex code scanning requirements, including those involving different materials (e.g., reflective surfaces), shapes (e.g., curved surfaces), backgrounds, and barcode colors.

The outstanding decoding performance and optimized light source design ensure high-speed moving code reading capabilities. Meanwhile, the device features an IP67 high protection rating and a compact size, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments with limited installation space.

 

By adopting the FS05A series for this project, Hawkgaze successfully achieved full-process deployment for the customer. According to the customer's feedback, the solution effectively met their special application needs. The product is easy to configure and install, with stable and reliable performance and a high code reading success rate, which guarantees the smooth operation of the production line.
